Topic Outline – To study and understanding of power train system from engine to axle.

Summary of topic

Power train of an Automobile is the mechanisms that transmit the thrust for pushes the vehicle forward from engine to axles. It includes clutch, gears, gear box, propeller shaft, differential, and axles. In the power train it is necessary to know the basic study and understanding of power train system. In the clutch system maximum power losses due to engaged and disengage action. The primary function of gear box is to increase or decrease the speed or torque whenever it's required. A propeller shaft is a component that transfers the torque from gear box to the differential or wheels. The basic function of slip joint and universal joint of propeller shaft is to compensate the length and adjust the movement in suspension respectively. A differential is an important component to differentiate the speed of two wheels, the outer wheel rotate faster than the inner wheel. The axle mainly perform the two functions: first, it puts up with weight of the vehicle and second it rotates and transmits the power of the engine to the wheels.
